Rio Carnival tour

Have just realised my life long dream to go to the Carnival in Rio, and it’s truly been totally amazing. A singles tour, and I met some lovely like minded people, all ages and some with limited mobility. We had internet access everywhere we went so was able to send lots of photo shopping home.

We initially flew to Santiago in Chile, lots of sightseeing including wine tasting at a Vineyard. We then drove over the Andes ( lots of hairpin bends !) to an Inca settlement. Mendoza was next, then on to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where we learnt all about Eva Peron. We visited La Boca, a charismatic district, and an artists colony. They even had tango dancers outside the bars and restaurants. A river cruise was next, up the Tigre Delta, seeing a maze of waterways. In the evening we had a dinner and tango show, it was fantastic. Next day we spent at an Argentinian Ranch … horse or carriage riding, lunch with plenty of vino ! Then we were entertained by a Goucho Show with all the horses. After some free time in Buenos Aires, we then went to the Iguazu Falls …. OMG the most beautiful sight ever, right in the middle of the jungle, just so spectacular. It’s right at the meeting point of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. We then flew down to Rio … l laid on my hotel bed looking out thro my balcony doors, right along Copacabana Beach ! We went up Sugar Loaf Mountain on the Cable car, then had a helicopter flight right over Rio, breathtaking. We also went on a small cog railway thro the jungle up to the Christ the Redeemer Statue. Then the Carnival, truly the “ greatest show on earth” 10pm till 6am. The music, the floats and the costumes just has to be seen to be believed … am running out of adjectives !! On my last day in Rio, I just had to go to Ipanema Beach and dance the salsa on the sand to the Amy Winehouse version of “ the girl from Ipanema” … it just had to be done ! And we drank coconut milk from a coconut ….. I didn’t need the plane to fly home ! I was on such a high ……

Hi ... this is my 2nd holiday with Just You and I am already planning my 3rd. We are looked after so well, nothing is too much trouble. As well as the trip, it’s also exciting meeting lots of new people who are all single, divorced or widowed ... I am so glad that I plucked up courage for these new adventures. I have many friends but we all have different bucket lists, so if I waited for some one to come with me, I wouldn’t go anywhere. Life is too short and my bucket list is very long !

Hi Sandra- I haven't travelled with Solos but I have two female friends who have. Both found it a very safe, friendly way to travel. From what I hear, there are often more women than men on the trips. I have travelled with Saga solos a couple of times and found them to be good, although generally larger groups than Solo holidays.
Good luck - it's not always easy making the first step but it is so worth it.

I am recently widowed and have started to look at singles holidays. Have you travelled with this firm before? If not did any of your travelling companions mention they had?
