My husband and I spent two weeks at the Hotel Apostolata in Kefalonia during May this year. The hotel was positioned on the hillside near the resort of Skala and our room was on the top floor with a view to die for. Every morning we would awake and go out onto the balcony to the most wonderful panoramic views over the coast.

We were on an “All Inclusive” basis and the food was varied and generally very good, with a selection of Greek dishes on offer. Most of our meals were taken on the terrace overlooking the sea. The pool was situated on a different level to the main building but this was not a problem as if you suffered from walking difficulties, a buggy was always available to take you to the pool or any other part of the extensive gardens.

The gardens were beautiful, full of flowers as was the whole of the Island which we visited on two included tours. One was to the capital Agostoli and the other was a whole island tour right up to the north to Fiskado and of course we visited Sami where Captain Corelli’s Mandolin was filmed.

Kefalonia is a beautiful island with plenty of places of interest to see including the Turtles which can be seen in Agostoli Harbour. The Hotel runs courtesy buses every hour to Skala and also to the neighbouring village of Poros at 12.00 noon each day.

A very enjoyable holiday.
