We visited Singapore in February this year, on our way to New Zealand. This modern city, with its skyscrapers, metro and (thank goodness) air con, is a joy to behold. However I have to say that the places that I enjoyed the most were the historical areas, particularly China Town, Little India and Arab Street. Raffles Hotel is an amazing colonial style beauty, we stood and stared and soaked up the atmosphere from a distance, since non residents were not allowed in, due to Covid restrictions. We’d heard that the best place to drink a fabled Singapore Sling was actually in the Blu Jazz cafe in Arab street so, in the name of investigative foodism, we made it our next stop. At the time of our visit, one of the famous cocktails in Raffles Hotel was approximately £18 each, which is a pretty pricey experience, but obviously you are paying for the opulent and historic setting. At the Blu Jazz we got two for that price, the setting isn’t as luxe but the cocktails were long and strong and delicious. The Blu Jazz Cafe is buzzing, colourful and funky, making it a perfect place for an early evening, pre dinner drink. It also serves food and has live bands. So if you want to sling in style, without spending a fortune, get yourself down to Arab Street, you’ll have the best cocktails in Singapore and be for some noodles!

Hi, yes I read the Facebook post, it’s what jogged my memory. Thought it might be good to have an alternative, but if you’ve got the dosh then it would be lovely to splurge it on a visit to the iconic Raffles Hotel.

A great review @suzybean. So pleased you got to experience a Singapore Sling in Singapore. We recently featured Raffles Hotel and its iconic Singapore Sling on our Facebook page. I've been amazed by the response.
