A lovely, quaint little restaurant which is excellent for both romantic dinners and group dining. We have eaten here before as a couple but on this occasion we brought our friends on their first visit.

We were greeted on arrival and invited to have a drink at the bar whilst our table was prepared. Asked if we would prefer to eat inside or out in the garden area we chose in, and then waited a few minutes before we were escorted through and offered a choice of table.

Our waitress was a lovely young lady who attended to our every need very efficiently with a little bit of banter but certainly without rushing us. We really like the fact that dinner here is a leisurely experience and that you don't feel you are being pushed back out the door as soon as possible as in some restaurants.

On Friday & Saturday evenings there is a regular menu as well as a 'specials' menu with several choices including vegetarian and gluten free options, but be warned, with so many lovely choices it's very hard to make a decision. We feel that the menu is quite reasonably priced for the quality of the food served with main courses averaging £15-£20. There is also an excellent wine list, although on this occasion we chose to stick to beer and soft drinks and a port to finish.

We all really enjoyed our starters and main courses and totally cleared our plates, (hubby was particularly pleased with the 28 day steak which he prefers blue, and many restaurants struggle to serve correctly but his was absolutely perfect). We certainly couldn't resist the desserts and between us we chose a really light and fluffy cheesecake, fresh strawberries, cheeseboard and the assiette of desserts – mmmmmm, along with a glass of vintage port.

All this and drinks for less than £50 a head including service. Our friends were definitely impressed and I'm sure it won't be too long before they choose to return.

I have been to this restaurant for many years and fully endorse the review. I have taken friends there recently and they were equally impressed with the service.
