Not all clowns are scary

In view of the recent news reports of clowns scaring people witless in UK towns (sadly I’m not joking!) I thought I’d post a photo taken 2 weeks ago on our trip to Canada of this lady clown doing a great job in Quebec City.
It was a lovely place to visit especially if you stay in the old part, la Cite. Very French, great food, so atmospheric. The Tourist Office offers organised bus and walking tours – we chose to do the latter and our local guide was informative, amusing and led us to places we wouldn’t have found on our own, like the trompe l’oeil frescoes on gable ends of several houses.
The weather was sunny and warm in September but we were warned of very cold winters with deep snow
Historically Quebec City was strategic, being well sited on the St Lawrence river, and a walk around the old walls was well worth it, even for the not so fit like us. (An excuse to walk off the patisserie, right?)

ESWover 4 years agoThank you for the extra information. The best way to see and get a feel for a place is on foot!

optifourteenover 4 years agoESW - the clown was out and about in the city but performed at parties, too. Her bright little van was stuffed with exciting props and, no, it didn't fall apart with a bang!
We stayed for several nights on our way from Toronto to Nova Scotia. The hotel was the Manoir Victoria but next time we would probably stay at the Hilton which is only just outside the city gate, with easy access.
The walking tour took a couple of hours of ambling along and was great for understanding the French and English history and architecture. It started at the Tourist Office in the middle.
We toured around the walls on foot, saw the citadel and grounds, walked along a splendid boardwalk with spectacular views (humming the song, like you do....) There was a funicular to get back to the main decking area where the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac Hotel you see in all the pics is situated. We peeped in to see how the other half lives! Finally we ate and drank a lot - well we were on holiday! -
ESWover 4 years agoDo tell me, was the lady dressed up as aclown for any special reason and does she do it often?
How long did you stay in Quebec and where did you stay?
How long did the walking tour take and where did you get to with it?
What else did you do while you were there?
