Bounty Island Resort is situated on a small sand island two hours ferry ride from mainland Fiji within an inland sea protected from the Pacific Ocean by an outer ring of islands. Transfer is by open 8 metre boat and a wade across the beach through the surf to be greeted by the islanders dressed in traditional clothing playing guitars and singing traditional songs. Each guest is presented with a garland of flowers.

Accommodation is provided in small timber bungalows on the white coral sand beach just four metres from the lagoon with a bowl of water at the door to wash off your bear feet before entry to the unit. The accommodation is primitive with a double
bed with large mosquito net in the centre of the room and a bench or hooks for cloths. To the rear is a we,whb and shower to a brick lined unit. The exterior of the unit has panels of glazed ventilation louvres and palm trees provide shade and support a couple of hammocks. A timber table with two reclining chairs make up the facilities. A communal restaurant open to the ocean with a thatched roof and two large tables with benches is the ideal place to meet everyone on the island about forty people. The food is mainly fresh fish caught off shore ,exotic salads and fruit and local Fijian dishes. A small bar with a timber deck extends around the fresh water pool and musical entertainment is provided by the Fiji staff in the evening. All the water activities are free including diving, snorkelling, sailing and kayaks .It takes about 30 minutes to canoe around the islands. The lagoon is home to millions of tropical fish, reef sharks, turtles and miles of coral. You can visit surrounding islands on the main ferry crossing torquise waters .A fantastic and exotic destination where you can live like Robinson Crusoe and forget the real world as soon as you have got over the shock of existing in primitive conditions . Go there before it is taken over
as a controlled and organised resort island at four times the cost.

Accommodation arranged through Trailfinders and was recommended by one of the travel advisors who had been there. The trip was part of a round the world adventure with flights from New Zealand and on to Los Angels. The resort may have changed to a more up market resort.

This sounds wonderful. Who did you book through , or did you arrange this yourself?

How long did you stay for and can I be very rude ad ask how much the holiday cost? I have a feeling it may be outside my budget.
