Seville is a beautiful city, full of the splendour of Moorish architecture and vibrant with Spanish culture. From bullfighting (I’ll pass thank you, but visiting the ring and the museum was interesting) to the stunning Place d’Espana (which you may recognise, if you are a Star Wars fan), with exciting Flamenco dance shows and superb food, it’s a great place to visit.

We went in early July and even then it got to 44 – pretty darn hot in the city!

Here’s my top tips for visiting Seville:

- Choose the time of year carefully, look at the average temperatures and pack accordingly

- Tapas is cheaper if you sit at the bar rather than at a table

- Be polite and – if you can – try and speak even a little Spanish, the effort is appreciated

- If you go on the open top bus, start early. Some of the attractions it drops by are closed from 3pm. If you go in summer, sit downstairs if you can (unless they have the shade up)

- If you are just going for a weekend, plan you ‘must see’ attractions in advance so you can fit them in. There’s a lot to see and do in this great city.
