I must just slip in a reference to Vancouver, which came at the end of the Rocky Mountaineer, and before our cruise.

It was quite a shock to arrive in Vancouver, after the relative solitude of the National Parks and the train ride through the Rocky mountains. Urban, busy with cars and people, tall buildings a hotel room high above street level. Breakfast was not included in the hotel overnight price, so we went to a local bakery/café

We had a coach trip in the morning around Vancouver, with stops to do some sight seeing. There was a park with some interesting Indian story “First Peoples” totem poles, and gift shop. Afterwards we went to a bustling market with food and craft stalls, were we had a delicious fish and chips lunch, and I bought some cards to frame.

After a rest, we went a walk down to the sea and walked along the promenade. It had rained in the morning, but the sun came out and we watched the sea planes landing and taking off.

A very interesting city – could have spent longer than a day there!

Agree, needs more than a day. We spent a few days there and the city has a lovely feel to it, could quite comfortably live there.
