We arrived at Interlaken late at night, so didn't see much of our surroundings. When we awoke the next morning, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Outside our window was a huge mountain covered in snow with a brilliant blue sky backdrop and across the road was the most beautiful blue roaring river. Interlaken is the most beautiful place. It's easy to get around on Swiss trains, their standard class coaches leave our first class coaches standing and they leave and arrive on time, to the second… I was more than impressed. Passes can be purchased to get around at very reasonable prices. We purchased passes to ride on the passenger boats on the two huge lakes, which allow you to get off and on at various places around the lakes. To put the lakes into perspective, Lake Windermere would fit into one corner and you can spend the whole day sailing along! We only managed half a day as the weather was so hot that we were burning in the sun, but the scenery was awe-inspiring. On the penultimate day, we took a trip to the Eiger and I'm lost for words when trying to explain the views from the top … absolutely out of this world. If I had to sum this holiday up in one word, it would be BLISS … and I do intend going back.
