My home town of Exmouth is very dear to my heart! When I first got my teaching job here I fell in love with it! At the far end of Exmouth we have the very swish marina which houses boats of all descriptions, and this is surrounded by newly built colourful properties, some of which overlook the exe estuary and have the most stunning views. It's a great pastime to watch the boats go out of the marina. You can stand on the little bridge and see them go underneath you! Next to the marina is a restaurant where you can enjoy a drink outside in the summer. If boating appeals, there is a ferry which goes across to starcross, the other side of the water. Many people take their bikes and ride around the estuary. It's a fantastic thing to do! Another boating opportunity is to take the water taxi. He will drop you off to Dawlish Warren, a nature reserve, again on the opposite side to Exmouth. And finally, on the boat excursion side, Stuart Lines do a wide variety of trips throughout the year ranging from bird spotting up the river, to trips up the Jurassic Coast. If you enjoy walking, Exmouth would appeal to you. We have a mile of gorgeous sandy beach, which is totally unspoilt by development, and which has gorgeous views across to the warren and hills beyond. If you manage to walk to the end of the beach and reach Orcham point, you can walk along the cliff, which is the start of the Jurassic Coast, and admire more stunning scenery. As for Exmouth town itself? Well, if you enjoy charity shops, this is the town for you!! We have loads! We do also have an indoor market which is run by independent traders. We don't have the huge giant stores that most towns have, but to me, that's not a bad thing, Exmouth is more unique and better for it. Finally, we do have a train station. The route to Exeter, follows the estuary and again has stunning views. It's a must do if you're visiting Exmouth! As you can tell, I love living in Exmouth, and if you've never been here, well come and give us a try!
