My daughter paid for a 3 day break to Edinburgh as a birthday treat last November. I had never visted this city before so was really looking forward to the trip. While there we used the local bus service quite a lot. Unfortunately the bus drivers were not at all helpful & one in particularly was down right rude when he realised we were English. Even my grand daughter, who is only 8, commented on the drivers rudeness compared to the cheerful friendly bus drivers in Sheffield. However we were determined not to let them ruin our stay & can recommend a visit to the Castle & the Scot momument. The staff at the Castle were really helpful & did all they could to make our visit really worthwhile. If you go make sure you are there for 'One O Clock Gun' ceremony. Best part of the castle according to my Grand Daughter, especially as she was invited to have her photograph taken we the female gunner. Also the 'Scot Monument' is worth the climb for the fantastic views, but be warned you do need to be reasonably fit. All in all, Edinburgh is a lovely Georgian compact city & I will return, but avoid the public transport if at all possible.

I love the Edinburgh Castle. Fortunately, I have not been on the public transport in Edinburgh. I usually drive up there.
