Saga's Paphos Saga - we didn't go!

We decided to celebrate a birthday in warmer climes so booked a 3 week for the price of two with SAGA in April to get exactly what we wanted – Flight from E Midland to Paphos departing 11.30 am transfer time about 20 mins to Cypria Bay Hotel. We got all flight details on 16th August – later an e-mail "ready to go". On October 15th we had a phone call to say our departure airport had been changed to Birmingham (another 30 miles) and departure 9.30 am landing in Larnaca (90 mins transfer). I said this is not the holiday we booked and not suitable for 70 & 80 year old – Cancel – Saga then said " This is a MINOR change see Booking conditions page 4 allow this and cancellation is 70% of total – a loss of £1680. My son took over and put the story on SAGA'S FACEBOOK after some exchanges we got a full refund OVER THE PHONE but were told a letter was in the post saying that the hotel had also been changed because of building work nearby. This is a summary of this experience – originally it was a good deal but the hassle and doubt unpleasant BEWARE – PLEASE NOTE THESE CHANGES APPLY TO VARIOUS GROUPS OF AIRPORTS IN GB – the conditions are not highlighted nor the cancellation implications. We have used Saga several times before and when there are no problems they offer good holidays but not good when things go pear shaped (a previous experience). So do we try again this November?

    It is easy to fall into the easy street by continuing to use the same provider even when you have encountered a bad experience. I do like to give everyone a second chance but with large organisations it is not the individual you support but the whole company. I now tend to give someone else the OPPORTUNITY to better the experiences I have had...remember you may well be settling for mediocre rather than the first class treatment you would prefer...

    Try someone else for a change perhaps.
