An early start for the five day trip to Fort William. Going alone, I was a bit apprehensive but I had been to Loch Awe with Lochs and Glens so knew it would be fine. Luckily I sat next to a lovely lady so that was a good start. A long journey but lots of stops and drinks made by driver in the coach was very welcome.

Arrival at the hotel and I was so impressed at the efficiency as we were each given a card with instructions of meal times, wifi info and our room number. We were told that our cases would be by our door and the key in the door and dinner would be served in half an hour!! Wow, brilliant, no queueing at reception desk.

Room was great as it was a double – I had requested a bath but didn’t really tink I would get one – with a bath. I was so chuffed – fast running hot water at all times. Heaven.
Dinner was nice and all the meals at the hotel were really great, the staff were excellent, nothing too much trouble.

The trips out in the beautiful weather, cold , frosty, sunny and still, were great. First one to the Ben Nevis Distillery for an interesting tour and tasters. Other trips and beautiful views kept us happy also I liked having a rest in the afternoon whilst some went walking or shopping!

Oh, I mustn’t forget we had Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve celebrations with a lovely Bagpiper too. A great trip altogether, wish it wasn’t so far, but definitely worth it.

ESW. I'm not usually a solo traveller, but was this time and so were many ladies and gentlemen on the trip. No supplements and no problems! I would advise you to get the "Lochs and Glens" information catalogue. There were too many places for me to detail, but it's all in the catalogue. They are inexpensive and a great Company. www.lochandglens.co.uk. or tel. 01379 713713. Good luck.

Like you I'm a solo traveller. I'd be grateful if you could give me a bit more information...

Which company did you go with and how much was the single supplement? Were there many other 'solos' on the trip?

Where was the hotel? Apart from the Ben Nevis Distillery, where else did you go?
