A wonderful cruise but a word of caution regarding Athens. There were 6 cruise ships in on the day of our visit and most go to the Parthenon (Acropolis). Every photo of the famous temple had hundreds of people in them. Not sure what the answer is as a month before, it would have been too hot to visit. The heavens opened when we were there and we were wet through to our underwear as the captain had assured us there would be a short shower, nothing serious!

At Malta in Republic Street, it's worth finding the pub where Oliver Reed died whilst making the film Gladiators. It's called The Pub and it holds a maximum of 24 people, small, pokey but atmospheric. 200 cigarettes (bought for a friend) cost £14.50!!!

Unfortunately a crew member died on his very first voyage and the tone of the ship changed for a few days. However there was a fantastic collection for the member's family back home in the Philippines.

I loved Odessa and Yalta and did the ship's excursions. However it's so much cheaper to share a taxi with others. The driver holds up pictures of interesting sites and you point to the ones you want to visit.
