I booked this holiday at the last minute, asking for a balcony, but was upgraded to a balcony suite, which was so luxurious with fantastic comfortable bed, a settee, armchair and sideboard with integrated frig, Walk in wardrobe with masses of hanging , shelves and drawers. Full bath shower, etc. Lots of mirrors ,mirrored dressing area and writing desk with concealed safe. My balcony had a table and two armchairs. It was just so spacious, everything I could need. My steward was so helpful and attentive and kept my room in great shape , replacing fruit and water with ice all the time. it was very convenient to be one floor above the gym and spa. Also the theatre was a couple of floors away, Restaurants were at the other end of the ship. I chose port side as I think it is so interesting, especially at Stavanger where you dock right alongside the old part of town with picturesque cottages galore. I find Norway such a tranquil place gliding along with so much changing interesting scenery. So many trips and tours to choose from, 2/3 hours to all day. The food was excellent, so much on offer, five courses is too much , so it is good to have such a vast array to choose from and most people had three courses once they had got into the swing. Our waiter was superb and his bus boy was also very attentive, we were truly cosseted and if someone was not sure about the food, our waiter said try and if it isn't to your liking have something else. Which was great. We all liked icecream so it was automatically added to our puddings. I had a super table of people and thoroughly enjoyed my week on board msc opera. The only downside was the boarding arrangements at Southampton which were dire and need honing big time !! Everyone I met who was over 75 said they thought it was excellent value for money, especially for the single traveller.

The balcony suite sounds amazing. My other half always likes a bath but these are not always available on ships. Would love to try cruising one day.
