After an overnight stay in Southampton, we had an easy embarkation on to the Queen Victoria where we were welcomed by many of the ship's staff. Having previously sailed on this ship three years ago, when the norovirus closed the buffet restaurant for the whole week, we were rather nervous as to how this cruise would go. We had no need to worry at all. From start to finish we had a wonderful time. The food was amazing, with plenty of choice, staff were polite and helpful at all times and the shows were very entertaining. Among the entertainers was the very popular Roy Walker who did two shows. The entertainment director who was an actress on Eastenders in her previous life, was bubbly and gregarious and very, very likeable. There were many trivia quizzes where we met other people and formed a team. The competition was lively and very popular. In the pub there was fish and chips available every lunchtime as an alternative to the restaurant or buffet. This was very poplar as they were so delicious. The casino was available till late and my wife and I had a little gamble here and there. There are lessons available in the casino on most days. Without any hesitation, I would recommend Cunard Queen Victoria, especially for the transatlantic journey to New York – what better way is there to arrive in New York than to sail under the Verrazano Bridge and pass closely by The Statue of Liberty before a quick and easy disembarkation in the very centre of New York.
