What a wonderfully luxurious way to get from UK to USA on a gracious ocean liner with super food, interesting lectures and the largest ballroom afloat. We even went to a wedding – both silver travellers like us – the service being conducted by the captain, with every detail attended to before, during and after the ceremony. The cruise staff could not have done more to make their day!

After crossing the Atlantic, we had a few days in New York City, took an Amtrak train by day to Niagara, spent a couple of days there and another Amtrak, this time overnight, to Chicago and had two nights there before flying back to UK by Virgin Atlantic.

A super trip!

I completely agree with your comments about the food and the lectures. We had 20 nights on the QM2 in the Far East in January 2013 and everything about the ship and the service was first class luxury. Sir Jackie Stewart was one of the guest speakers, for me the highlight of a couple of the at sea days.

I was very interested in this ship as we may be coming back from Cape Town to Southampton early next year. It seems to tick all the right boxes as regards things to do on board especially the lectures on ports of call. My only concern is the size of the ship. With so many people on board, it must be like a small floating town on the seas.
Anyway, I always think that traveling is all part of the holiday, so I am looking forward to the trip.
