This week my girlfriends and I visited the Botanical Gardens at Kiftsgate Court. Currently open at 12:00 we thought we’d get there for opening, have lunch from at their tea room and then view the garden. We were extremely lucky to get in as we took the last parking space! They subsequently turned people away, and asked them to come back in a couple of hours. The gardens have risen to the Covid-19 challenge admirably. Social distancing lines at the entrance, a map on your ticket showing a one way system to view the garden, and well-marked route signs.

Catering has been reduced to baguettes and cakes, with a one way system and masks required whilst queuing. There are a few tables inside but as a nice day, we choose a table on the terrace overlooking the garden.

The garden itself is beautiful with many different areas to enjoy, some plant identification, however the owner and staff are very knowledgeable and if you take a photo can help you identify a plant. It was an opportunity for me to play with Google lens, which certainly helped identify some plants but not necessarily the specific variety!

The garden is multilevel, so those with walking difficulties may struggle with some areas. There are several water features, so little people need to be closely monitored, however in these times I’d expect nothing less.

On exit, there is a visitors book, to help notification should anyone fall ill with the virus, and of course a selection of plants for sale to tempt you!
