Review: Shugborough Estate - National Trust

Restrictions caused by coronavirus means that only the grounds of this beautiful place are open – BUT WHAT GROUNDS! We were parked near to the walled vegetable garden and spent more than an hour and a half there, admiring the wonderful diagonal rows of superb colourful vegetables, the fan-trained and espalier fruit trees adorning the walls and the bright cutting borders. We returned there to make use of the benches with our take-away coffee and scones purchased from the courtyard, where there is usually a cafe.
The rest of the extensive parkland, lakeside walks and more formal gardens were also available for those with the stamina, but we left those for another time.
A much needed breath of fresh air, following the confines of lockdown.
