Spent the afternoon unwinding at Stowe House National Trust. At some points there was no back ground noise, just our footsteps. So much to see, stunning structures. There was a trolley bus to the gardens, which helped for mobility issues, but not to the house as it’s out of season. This would be my only feedback, it’s a shame not to be able to access the house all year around if you do not have the ability to walk a distance.

I was under the impression that Stowe House doesn’t belong to the National Trust and is in fact a school, and therefore a working building. It is open on certain days for guided tours and the website states they only release tickets one month before the date of visit, as opening times can be subject to change. According to the website you can visit the state rooms during the holidays, although that doesn’t seem to be during the Christmas holidays. Many stately homes are shut over the winter months (apart from special Christmas openings) as this is the time staff give them a much needed deep clean.

Most people visit for the gardens, which as you say are stunning.
