We arrived at Seville’s Real Alcázar at 11am where after a couple of minutes wait we paid €9.50 each, and after security screening, went in. Our guide-book suggested that due to pressure of visitors a ‘flow-control system has been introduced whereby 750 people are allowed in every 20-30 minutes’. As we entered via one of the gift shops, I bought a booklet for €2 on where to take the best photographs. We navigated our way around a spectacular place with lots of different rooms and amazing tiles. Although I tried using my booklet, it was soon obvious that tourists and the sun wouldn’t allow me to take the photographs they suggested. After visiting the Gallery of Grotesque which afforded good views of the garden, we decided on a coffee in the cafeteria. Over a café con leche and glass of vino blanco we soaked up the February sun on our face. It was a beautiful place for a drink but, as it was only 12.30pm, it was a little early for lunch. We strolled around some of the gardens and tried to get lost in the maze of myrtle bushes before leaving.
