Charlecote is the home of the Lucy family where they have lived since the 12th century. The National Trust now look after the property which is Tudor, with a Victorian kitchen, and a wonderful carved Victorian buffet sideboard. There are miles of walks in the woods and parkland by the River Avon and stories of William Shakespeare poaching deer on the land. A herd of fallow deer still graces the park, and you can also visit nearby Charlecote Mill if it is open on a Sunday, and the nearby Church.

There are refreshments and often events such as vintage cars, and plants for sale so it is a good afternoon visit, which can be combined with nearby Stratford on Avon.

The Tudor gateway which you see as you walk up to the house is a lovely sight on arrival, and there is a beautiful parterre at the back down to the river planted with bulbs in the Spring.
