We booked an overnight stay here at short notice. The hotel looked nice, we were maybe drawn by the name of a TV series that we like.

It is situated on a corner along Lord Street. We entered the bar which is light and airy with lots of natural light from the many windows. We checked in at the bar but then were taken outside to a for next door to access our room. We were a bit surprised by this – I don’t know why but we envisaged to enter via the bar.

The stairs are step and narrow. To be honest I felt a little claustrophobic. Our room was on the front with a large bay window. Tastefully decorated. It was pointed out that there was an electric fan which we were very grateful for through the night as it was very warm in the room.

The room was compact, a couple of negative features for us was that the bathroom light switch was on the wall by the door – away from the bathroom itself. The bathroom was extremely small, the towels were rolled up above the loo but once used there wasn’t anywhere to hang them. The handbasin was extremely small but with a large tap, leaving little room to wash our faces in. My husband is just over 6 feet tall and struggled. We both banged our heads on the tap whilst swilling our faces. There were 2 hooks to hang coats jackets etc. on but they were situated above the kettle and tea tray.
The biggest negative for me is that the hotel is advertised as having Wifi in all areas. We were given an access code and password, but despite being connected I continually got the message that there was no signal.Very frustrating.

On a positive note the bed was huge possibly queen size with an extremely comfortable mattress.

We were on room only so had no opportunity to trial the breakfast.

I loved Peaky Blinders on TV but I think that would put me off staying in a hotel of that name.
