We stayed in this pousada in Estremoz for one night when driving from the Algarve to Santander, on our way home. What a find…..! A genuine old castle that oozed elegance. Our room even had a turret! The castle is set on a hilltop, so you get lovely views of the town and surrounding countryside. We had dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, and thought it was delicious. If you get the chance to stay there, even if it is only for one night, I would certainly recommend it.

We booked it through - Pousada Castelo de Estremoz
We paid 112.50 euros for a double room, which we thought was very reasonable. Sorry, can't remember the meals in detail, but we were happy with them.

How did you find this place? Did you book it yourself or book it through an agent? It sounds wonderful - is it very expensive?

Do tell me what you had to eat for dinner. Was the food cooked to order and did you have to wait long for it to arrive. What were portion sizes like? What about the breakfast choice?
