This is a large wooden house on a quiet side road along the river. There are 4 guest rooms upstairs (2 en suite) reached by outside steps to small balcony area with seats and small utility area with washing machine, microwave, fridge, kettle, tea and coffee although I had to ask for cups, plates and cutlery.

At the end of the corridor was a lounge area with computer, easy chairs and books. A spiral staircase led down to the breakfast area, making it user unfriendly for people of limited mobility.

We had an en suite room at the back of the house overlooking the river. It was a reasonable size room with bathroom off. The bed was comfortable, with 2 bedside tables. There were 2 small easy chairs, small table, chest of drawers with TV. There was a large hanging cupboard with space for suitcases. The lighting not particularly good and there was little space to work at the computer. We stopped 2 nights and the room not serviced during our stay, but we found this was the case elsewhere in Newfoundland.

There could be noise from the corridor and other rooms if noisy guests were around and also from outside when the window was open.

Breakfast was disorganised.

I felt this was adequate rather than good. The fact the owners weren’t in when we arrived (although I had confirmed details with them a few days earlier) didn’t help. A phone with number to call was left for us but it put us through to the answer phone inside the house…
