Traditional British cruise experience
No fly cruising holidays aboard smaller to mid-size cruise ships with the added convenience of sailing from 11 different UK ports, London Tilbury, Harwich, Hull, Newcastle Tyne, Dundee, Liverpool, Cardiff, Bristol Avonmouth, Bristol Port, Poole and Portsmouth – bringing cruising closer to home.
Recognising that many British cruisers prefer the more traditional cruising experience, CMV ocean ships offer a more leisurely and friendly ‘home from home’ style of cruising and are able to reach a much wider choice of interesting and remote ports of call. The emphasis is very much on attaining high levels of customer satisfaction on cruise holidays and providing attentive and friendly service standards.
A tantalising selection of destinations include the spectacular Land of the Northern Lights, the breathtaking Norwegian Fjords, the glorious Baltic & Russia, Iceland & the Northern Isles, Canary Islands & Madeira, Spain & Portugal, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, full Round the World and closer to home, the ever popular British Isles.
Columbus is the flagship of the CMV fleet. This splendid medium-sized cruise ship enjoys a fine reputation on the British cruise market. She underwent an extensive refit in 2015 and was further upgraded in the spring of 2017 ahead of the start of her maiden CMV season. Columbus carries about 1400 guests combining spacious surroundings and friendly service with stylish entertainment and delicious cuisine. She is the perfect choice for those looking for comfort and a wide range of facilities but still prefer a feeling of intimacy and personal attention when compared with the ‘mega’ resort style ships built today.
Magellan carries about 1250 passengers accommodated in 726 cabins. There are 150 superior inner and ocean view cabins set aside for single occupancy, with just a 25% single supplement. Read more. Combining expansive, comfortable surroundings and friendly service with stylish entertainment and delicious cuisine, Magellan is the perfect choice for those looking for a greater range of on board facilities. However, she still retains a feel of intimacy and personal attention when compared with the ‘mega’ resort style ships built today. No climbing walls or ice-skating rinks and no children!
With her traditional profile, beautiful teak decks and distinctive dark blue hull, Marco Polo is a truly classic ocean liner operating as ‘adult only’. She can accommodate up to 800 guests within a warm and friendly atmosphere that reflects a truly intimate cruise experience. Over many years, Marco Polo has built a strong following on the British Market and has an enviable reputation for offering a truly fantastic choice of exceptional value destination cruising. Facilities include a choice of restaurants, five lounge areas, a library, card room, pool and whirlpools and the Jade Wellness Centre with gym and sauna.
With her handsome profile and a traditional walk around promenade deck, Astoria, formerly Azores, is a classic, beautifully restored ocean going cruise ship carrying just 550 guests offering a wide selection of very well appointed and comfortable public lounges and cabin accommodation. Azores was originally built as a trans-Atlantic ocean liner and in 1994 was virtually stripped to her hull and re-constructed at an amazing cost of $US150 million and restored as a beautiful more contemporary cruise ship.
The stylish, premium Astor offers an exciting twice yearly voyage service between the UK and Australasia and South Africa. During the British winter months Astor will be cruising from Fremantle, Perth on a programme of local and round Australia sailings. Astor is an exquisite and contemporary ocean going liner with a proud heritage and a fine pedigree carrying just 600 discerning guests. In 2010, she underwent a £14 million upgrade and refurbishment and represents great value premium cruising, where you can experience the bygone halcyon days of long distance sea travel.
Vasco da Gama
With an enviable reputation and established following on the international cruise market, the premium 1220 passenger Vasco da Gama combines contemporary decor with a more traditional cruise style. Vasco da Gama is small to mid-size and is a wonderful new addition to the CMV fleet. The onboard facilities are impressive and include a choice of five lounge bars, four entertainment venues and six dining options, each with its own individual style. Vasco da Gama offers extensive deck areas and promenades, and two swimming pools with the main pool benefitting from a retractable roof.
