About Tradewind Voyages

Tradewind Voyages operate the world’s largest square-rigged sailing-vessel, Golden Horizon. The ship is a near-replica of the 1913-built ocean vessel France II, offering guests the charm and romance of an historic ship coupled with modern luxury. All 140 cabins face out to ensure guests can enjoy stunning views.

Tradewinds Voyages is backed by a commitment to sustainability, the protection of customers’ money and a guarantee that customers will be refunded if any voyage is cancelled due to Covid-19, so you can book with confidence.

Our philosophy

Tradewind Voyages’ philosophy is simple but unique; to follow the sun, using the winds and the currents, to magical beaches and port destinations in the luxury of a classic but contemporary ship. Golden Horizon offers the most sustainable cruises available, with the aim to sail, without using engines, for around 70% of each season.

Our Voyages

From July to August 2021, Golden Horizon will offer a series of individually tailored voyages from and back to the UK, sailing from Harwich, Leith (Edinburgh), Greenock (Glasgow) and Liverpool. Each will marry the romance, drama and history of the elegant tall ships with dramatic UK coastlines.

Golden Horizon’s inaugural voyage will be the ‘Eastern Coastal Contrasts’ sailing from Harwich on 1 July 2021, to be followed by a ‘Scotland East to West’ journey from Leith (Edinburgh) on 6 July, a ‘West Coast Gems of Scotland’ cruise from Greenock (Glasgow) on 15 July, a ‘Maritime Cities of the North West’ voyage from Greenock on 21 July and a ‘Rounding the South West peninsula voyage from Liverpool on 25 July.

Other ex-UK voyages include the English South Coast and Islands, a Norwegian Fjords Adventure and Beautiful Denmark. Prices start from £1,449 per person for 7 nights full-board, based on two sharing.

On board, customers will enjoy live entertainment, lectures and water sports, as well as the chance to join some inspirational people for special talks, excursions, drinks and dinners.

Sailing beyond the UK

In late Summer 2021, Golden Horizon will cross to the Mediterranean and will offer three Adriatic Voyages including visits to Venice and Split. These voyages will be named the ‘Owners Collection’ as Split is the birthplace of Golden Horizon.

Autumn will see the ship sail on a series of collections including All Inclusive Dubai, comprising two voyages in the Arabian Gulf, and the Indonesian Islands Collection which, in turn, includes ‘A passage to Singapore’, sailing directly from Dubai to Singapore over fourteen nights.

Life Onboard

All cabins enjoy an ocean view, whilst deluxe cabins and suites benefit from private balconies. Cabin interiors offer guests a place to relax in contemporary luxury, with traditional features and furnishings which are a tribute to the nautical heritage of a tall ship.

The ship offers outstanding food with a focus on local produce, an enrichment and wellbeing programme, three swimming pools, five bars, a marina deck complete with watersports, diving programmes, hair stylist, nail bar, library, lecture theatre and musical entertainment. The ship has a high staff-to-guest ratio and an atmosphere which fosters a sense of friendship and exploration throughout each voyage.

Tradewind Voyages adheres to the highest health standards and demands of our new world, benefitting from open decks on board, low passenger numbers and visits to remote locations.

Financial Protection

All monies taken for bookings will be held and protected in a trust account until holidays have been completed, to offer customers complete peace of mind when making a booking. Furthermore, if Tradewind Voyages has to cancel a voyage due to Covid-19, it guarantees customers will be able to transfer to another voyage or receive a full refund of monies paid. So you can be sure you can book with confidence.
