Women will be allowed to stay in hotel rooms alone in Saudi Arabia
Understandably their culture is not one with which we agree with when it comes to their attitudes towards women. That said, the news does reflect a change in that culture & things moving in the right direction.
I think I work hard to respect different cultures – in general I think differences make us interesting, nor better or worse.
But as a woman who travels alone I struggle with this – my immediate response to any suggestion that I might need a man’s permission to do anything is, I’m afraid, a knee-jerk. Besides, where am I meant to conjure up such a man? Or should I sit by my fireside and knit like a “respectable widow”? Grrrrrr!

Being a lady, I cannot possibly truthfully comment on this:-
Saudi Arabia allows women to travel independentlyThese include ending a ban on female drivers and allowing women to travel abroad without a male guardian’s permission.
