Winged Ants Invasion !

@Fossil – I found the funny side once I’d finished picking them out of my ears, and from down my t-shirt! Three people doing battle with a cloud must have been quite a sight!

Glad I wasn’t there @JoCarroll

@coolonespa – interesting read that.

Wakefield, West Yorks.

Termites do the same thing. And the termites in Malawi did it when we were out of the jeep, high on an outcrop, admiring the view … and there were millions and millions of them!

We had a few in the garden last weekend (9th) but not in large numbers as you’ve had.

BBC picked up on the theory that there is a day for it:

We had them last week.

Looks like tonight’s the night (in West Yorks. anyway everywhere you look ) : swarms of winged ants engaging in courtship ritual and take off, and nuptial flights garden birds going mad for the extra airborne supper time treats !! It’s like a huge Gatwick for Ants !! Same in your area ?

I’d been watching Charlton Heston in "The Ten Commandments" only last week ( he reminds me so much of me)…it was like a scene from that !
