This sounds great!
F Murray Abraham is a great actor and it would be a real pleasure to see him live.
As a volunteer at the town theatre, who helps keep ticket prices down, it would be lovely to watch a good performance without having to worry about lighting the way for latecomers, interval refreshments and clearing up all the litter from the aisles! I have forgotten what it feels like to be “on the other side”, perhaps I could learn something more for my hosting skills too.
Would just like to indulge by wife and I in a little culture….
Sounds interesting, but why described as being about art and artists, when the leads are both writers? I am an artist and do not consider my self adept at anything literary. Would like to win though.
Looks like interesting characters and The Guardian review says its ‘civilised comedy’, sounds right up my street!!!
Have just discovered the theatre, going to 2 shows in London this month, and keen to see more!! This one sounds particularly interesting.
We have a new competition to win tickets to see Homeland’s F Murray Abraham on stage in The Mentor at the Vaudeville Theatre this summer
Academy Award winner, Hollywood legend and star of hit TV series Homeland, F Murray Abraham plays Benjamin Rubin, a cantankerous old writer, whiskey aficionado and pedant, still basking in the reflected glory of long-ago success. Martin Wegner is a rising young literary star, heralded as “The voice of his generation”.
When the two of them meet, two huge egos clash in this perceptive and compelling comedy about art and artists and the legacy of fame.
- ‘Deftly translated by Christopher Hampton. Daniel Weyman…brilliant. A sprinkle of Homeland stardust’ Daily Mail
