Reasons to be Cheerful

Your correct the official ‘maximum’ is £54.85. I say official as it is a government ruling.

Goodness me! I paid £25 for my MOT at my local Kwikfit last year and don’t expect to pay more than £27 this year.

There is no official rate, simply a maximum that may be charged. The best deals are not always where you might expect to find them. Last year, I was quoted £45+ at a couple of back street garages and eventually paid £25 at a larger garage with better facilities.

Lot cheaper than here. The official government charge is £54.85 although some garages do it considerably cheaper.

As a matter of interest Gill what is the cost of an MOT in Spain.

Can’t say exactly as left the receipt in the glove compartment, but it was 20 euros, few centimos.

I wonder why Spain is every 2 years, a lot can happen in that time.

It depends on the age of the car, Alan. Mine was brand new in 2014 so the first
MOT was 2018, now this one in 2020, and the next will be 2022, but thereafter it
will be required annually.

I’m cheerful because my car passed it’s MOT, so that’s out of the way for the next 2 years!
