Travel insurance for seniorsTravel insurance for the over 50s is one of those thorny topics which we get asked about almost more than anything else. It seems that once you reach a certain age, or when medical conditions become pre-existing, this triggers insurance premiums which can become unaffordable.  We’re doing our very best to find insurance companies that will offer you a fair premium so that you can concentrate on what is really important – enjoying your travels!

The information below is accurate to the best of our knowledge. Silver Travel Advisor does not sell travel insurance and these details are given by way of suggestion only; many of the recommendations have been provided by Silver Travellers themselves. Please contribute comments at the end if you have any further suggestions.

Staysure were very helpful in sorting a weeks travel insurance for my mum, 81 who has no Internet access, the young man talked her through the cover and was able to give her 10% discount. I highly recommend them for short breaks

I use a company called EHIC Plus which offers atop up service to the EHIC card. When we had to use them, following my husband suffering from a broken nose , we found them quick and efficient.
They cover most pre-existing conditons and are very competitive.

I spent hours trying to get the best deal for 6 of us 12 to 80 in age for a 10-night stay in Madagascar. The older members have medical conditions to declare.
Not looking for the cheapest necessarily, but with the right cover. By far the cheapest with what looks like good cover is Avanti (subsidiary of Staysure?) Also promo code 20% off. Too good to be true??
Please advise if anyone knows otherwise.
