New OrleansThis prize draw is now closed.

We’re offering an amazing chance to win two places on a voyage through the Old South of the USA.

Due to the current travel restrictions that have been put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, Cosmos have unfortunately had to cancel the Old South and Florida special departure with David Wickers, previously offered as the prize for this draw. Instead they are offering two places on their standard yet still wonderful Old South and Florida tour, due to depart on a number of dates in 2021.

Cosmos Deep South

Including flights from London, transfers, accommodation, the services of the Tour Director, and six breakfasts and one dinner, this 13-day tour is perfect for any music lover: you will soak up Old South rhythms in New Orleans, visit the Sun Studio, birthplace of rock ’n’ roll, in Memphis and enjoy a show in your reserved seat at the world-famous Grand Ole Opry!

History buffs will enjoy visiting not only St. Augustine, but also the Old World city of New Orleans, with its clanging streetcars, stately mansions, and French Quarter. There is a visit to a pre-Civil War home in Natchez, which features fine collections of period furniture and paintings, and a stop at the grave and eternal flame dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr in Atlanta. A trolley tour in Savannah highlights many attractions of this historic seaport, including Madison Square, designed in the 1830s.

CosmosAs you explore each destination, your expert Tour Director will give you its back story, and insights that are not in the guidebook.

Whilst I would love to go (I have cancer) and my wife who looks after me (who is older than me) I would like Domini to win the prize so that his sister can go.

I would gift this prize to my amazing sister and her partner! Both NHS workers putting in an incredible amount of time and energy into helping the country fight the coronavirus. They had a holiday coming up which had to be cancelled in light of everything that is going on. I know New Orleans is on their bucket list so I know they'd appreciate, as well as deserve this trip!

It's always been my dream to visit the deep south since my dad's love of Jazz had an impact on me. My own preference is Motown and Northern Soul, preferably 60's black american soul, but every time I hear a bit of Jazz it takes me back to some lovely evenings out with my dad listening to a Jazz band, I would do this trip in honour of his memory.

Why visit the Deep South? one good reason to catch up with family in Atlanta, but also to actually visit things on my bucket list - New Orleans - NCIS fan I am and also the architecture and music down there. Home of Elvis, musician cut off in his prime. Just to be able to hear country music in the GRAND OLE OPRY would be a privilege. Nashville and it’s recording stations, so I could see where a friend of mine recorded his album. Atlanta catch up with family and head over to the aquarium is a must. Savannah in Georgia, take the sea air in and history of the area as the good food that brings would be a wonderful slow down to the tour. If I could combine with seeing other American friends, so we can sip the cocktails and then head down to Orlando and be kids again and enjoy our Freedom once again

Given the awful time we are all having I and many others crave something wonderful to look forward to. This holiday would be ideal and a real break from the humdrum of being stuck at home in isolation and the tension and fear of a dreadful disease we have no control over. Wisk me away to another world, please.

By other half is a passionate guitarist and loves making music, singing and making others happy. It would be just wonderful for us to 'Walk the Line' tread by the great man Johnny Cash....wearing the 'Blue Suede Shoes' of the King of Rock and Roll.
A dream come true would be winning this holiday where we could also visit the home of his iconic Gibson 'Les Paul' Guitar.
So much to see, do, experience in one holiday - making memories to treasure. Fingers and toes crossed !

I would cycle home from school and on entering the drive could hear the melodious sounds of jazz waft out of the window. Oh how I wish I could hear them again. He left a hole no-one could replace when he died at just 50years. We both loved Elvis too. He can’t visit the Deep South but he’d be with me in spirit. It would be such a joy. I’ve marvelled at the beauty of those mansions in New Orleans and Savannah on the tv but you cannot pick up the historical atmosphere through a screen alone.

Dopo tanti giorni trascorsi a riflettere chiusi in casa, avvolti dal dolore del mondo intero, è bello lasciare libero il pensiero di fantasticare su di un viaggio spensierato e felice.

I want to take a journey
    down to the deep south,
Where the southern drawl is slow and charming
poetry from right out of their mouth.

    Down to Sun Records studio
where Cash and Elvis did shine,
    Standing on the very spot
where all of those great stars aligned

To explore the swamps and bayous
    lying low in Louisiana,
Hoping to catch a glimpse of an alligator
or something unusual of that manner

To taste the delights of each States' cuisine
Ribs, Gumbo, Peaches & Pecan Pie,
Oh and when you're dishing out that sweet bread pudding....please dont you be so shy!

Put me under that voodoo spell
and send me straight on down to bourbon street,
Soak up that French and Creole mix
see where the dead & alive do meet

To learn where soulful music was inspired
    and where it first started,
    Out in the cotton fields
feeling the struggle of those that have since long parted

Paying homage to those who marched for their freedom and rights,
    Seeing the hardships they endured
knowing it is something that we must never lose sight

This trip stands out to me
as truly the best of the best,
If you'd consider taking an old soul like me
    then I'd truly feel blessed

Until then I'll keep on dreaming
about getting a trip to Dixieland devised,
But thank you for running the comp-
    Cosmos and Silver Travel Advisor.

I just found this site, my sister in law told me about it and I'm glad to join. I like to travel with my wife, and when I have a good experience, I like to leave reviews.
My wife and I had plans to fly to Barcelona later in April, go on a cruise, then come back and do a road trip in Spain, including a stop in Andorra. Those plans have all now been cancelled due to the COVID virus. I know it's more important to think about the health and well being of people than be sad that our trip was cancelled. It's okay, Spain and Europe will still be there when this is over.
Having said that, a trip to the Deep South sounds lovely and I'd love to take my wife there. As much as we have traveled, we have never seen that area. Thank you for the chance.

It was a delight to come across this wonderful giveaway. I was sad today because my long-dreamed about trip to the Azores was cancelled due to the Corona Virus. So this was a much-needed boost. I would love to see the sights of the Old South, taste the BBQ, grits, corn and other foods of the region....listen to the music and tap my foot and sing along if it's ok!

Even though I have been to Florida many times, and Georgia a few times, there are huge sections of the southern United States that I have not had the pleasure of seeing. As a student of history and someone who deeply appreciates culture, music, art, food, and more, this would be a wonderful opportunity to explore the Deep South through the lens of culture, history, music, art, food, and more. My wife is a teacher and I know she would love, love, love the opportunity to take this trip with me. Thank you for the opportunity!
