Win a short break for two people to glorious Guernsey, flights and car hire included

25 people found this feature helpful

VisitGuernsey is offering a short break to a lucky winner, and their partner, to be taken at any time up to December 2020, subject to availablity. You’ll be flown to the island for two nights with 4-star hotel accommodation (and breakfast), along with your own hire car. This offers a wonderful opportunity to explore Guernsey that has a riveting history, going back to William the Conqueror right up to WWII and the German Occupation.

Read the book or watch the film Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society to get a real sense of how the remaining islanders were affected. The remaining fortifications and underground bunkers tell their own stories too.

Guernsey also has great artistic connections too, with Victor Hugo living there for 15 years and Renoir falling under the spell of the island during his month’s sojourn in 1883, when he painted Moulin Huet in many guises. May 2020 sees the Literary Festival on Guernsey and the Performing Arts Festival on Alderney too. The Eat Drink and Be Local Food Festival celebrates local produce and producers, with great tastings and the Spring and Autumn Walking Festivals are becoming very popular as well.

This prize is a real opportunity to discover an enchanting island, close to the UK, but with a different, enriching flavour.

Hubbie and I had a great break here last year but there were so many other places we wanted to visit and things to do that we didn't manage to get round to so would be great to go again!

Have just finished reading "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" and it's really whetted my appetite to visit Guernsey so I was so excited when I saw this competition. Would love to find out more about the WW2 occupation and also discover the beautiful countryside. ✌✌

We had to cancel a holiday to Guernsey last year due to a health problem with Andrew's mother, so it would be wonderful to win this and all go next year.

I loved the film and history so this would be a real treat to have the chance to visit Guernsey and visit some of the filming locations. The Food Festival sounds amazing too and I love to walk. So many reasons why this would be a lovely place to visit for me!

I should love to visit Guernsey after reading this article. Already visited Jersey and found it fascinating especially what the Jersey people endured through Second World War. Need to discover more regarding those living on Geurnsey during that time.

I've never been to Guernsey although I heard a lot about it from an old lady who was in the same care home as my mother; she was a teenager during the German occupation and told us about the deprivations. I'd like to see Guernsey lillies in bloom in the sub-tropical gardens.

I've not visited Guernsey yet but I'm sure it would be an ideal destination for my partner and me. Steeped in so much history so much to see and do the island looks so beautiful and the sea so blue. To win this prize would be amazing with so much thrown in, flights , 4 star accomodation , car hire, I can hardly take it in, a 2 night taster of this island is what I'd love to win.

We visited Guernsey for the first time this year and were definitely not disappointed. Alas it was a very short visit and I would love to go again sometime. I would definitely visit Herm or other neighbouring Islands next time.
