John Williams: A Life in MusicThis prize draw is now closed.

We are delighted to have five copies of this CD to give away – the music is quite simply the soundtrack of our lives!

Decca Records and Classic FM, the UK’s most popular classical music station, are proud to announce the release of John Williams: A Life In Music – a brand new album of iconic movie scores by the world’s most successful film composer, including Star Wars, Jurassic Park, E.T. and many more. The album features brand new recordings with the London Symphony Orchestra, who recorded many of John Williams’ original soundtracks, and includes a world premiere recording of the Theme from Schindler’s List for cello.

Recorded at London’s Air Studios with the 86-piece orchestra, this epic collection of music was conducted by Gavin Greenaway. The 10-track album features Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter as well as familiar tunes from Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars – which were all first recorded by the LSO.

I love the Star Wars themes. My son has been a fan since the film's started in 1977 and
hearing them takes me back to his childhood.

A master of his art and it's so hard to choose a favourite. I'm going to say the soundtrack of Jaws as know one has mentioned it so far. Like the sea itself this score is calm, vibrant, terrifying, beautiful, scary, fierce, and like the creatures below devouring you with it's very presence.

Schindler's list for me. Moving and poignant, (like the red coat which appears in the film).

Saving Private Ryan - he made the story come alive with his music - the film itself was so poignant! Hard to believe that he has been writing music for nearly 60 years. God bless him!!! Obviously the force is still with him!!
May he continue for many years to come....................

I once heard the Star Wars theme being played live by a very talented youth orchestra, and absolutely loved it, especially the brass section.

Such a great man with such wonderful talent - not one piece of his music do I dislike but Star Wars brings back so many memories for me. Can't help hearing the soundtrack without being transported to another world!

I love the music from 'Ladies in Lavender' - gorgeous violin music to go with a lovely, gentle story and fantastic actresses, Dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.

It has to be the Star Wars Theme. Just after the first Star Wars was released, I was looking after Mark Hamil on a flight from L.A.to London - I was Cabin Crew - and he signed his autograph for me with: "Thank you for taking good care of me and may the Force be with you always......" I still have it!

The Theme from Schindlers List is my favourite because this music is so haunting and goes along well with the action on the film. Every time I here this I see the little girl in the red coat. It still brings a lump to my throat.

Having been to Kawai and stood where the dinosaur eggs were found in the roots of a giant strangler fig I have to say Jurassic Park. Delightful memories.

I would choose the main theme from Star Wars, so much drama so atmospheric, a truly great piece of music.
