It sounds every bit as beautiful as it looks. I am fairly well travelled but Austria is still on my "places to go" list; there is nothing I enjoy more than admiring breathtaking scenery and sampling local cuisine and culture

My husband and I were fortunate enough to spend a week in Lech five years ago during the ski season. It is a beautiful place with breathtaking views and it certainly was one of the most wonderful holidays we have ever had. I would love to have the opportunity to see it during the Summer months.

I have never travelled to Austria, would so love to visit with my daughter who is ex-army service personnel, and deserves a holiday after studying very hard the last few years to become primary school teacher.

Austria - such a beautiful country. We have visited before with our parents and they loved it so much, we had always hoped to return with them. Unfortunately Mum is no longer with us so she could not re-live her memories, but it would be lovely for us to revisit once again.

Austria's a beautiful and welcoming country - but remember, if you're visiting, or even just travelling through by car or motorcycle, you must purchase a Vignette before entering the motorway or "S" Roads system. Failure to do so can change that welcome into an expensive and quite scary experience if you are caught without one.
Several years ago we were travelling through Austria on a 3 month European tour Europe and stopped at a busy lay-by for a cup of coffee and a sandwich. Minutes later several official police vehicles swooped into the lay -by sealing off the exit and police proceeded to march up and down peering into vehicle windscreens to check that each had a valid Vignette on display.
Luckily we had purchased one on our entry into Austria so received a smile and a quick nod from the officer checking our screen, however the vehicle parked next to us didn't have the necessary sticker displayed. The driver was then pulled from the vehicle (an older gentleman travelling with, I assume, his wife) and frog marched into the back of a waiting blacked out vehicle which was then driven away at speed leaving behind a rather distraught passenger!
On seeing our shock an English speaking officer approached us and explained that they had taken the driver away for him to pay an on the spot fine and once this was done he would be released.
As the police all carry hand guns in Australia and are quite intimidating I can only be thankful that we had the foresight to pay for a Vignette and not taken a chance at being caught!

The only time I have been to Austria was when I hitchhiked there when I was 17 years old. My friend and I didn't have much idea about back-packing and took big suitcases with us! (Not only did drivers have to pick us up but they had to store our suitcases as well!) We ran out of money in Vienna and slept on the station where some very traditional Austrian women berated us for wearing mini skirts! To go back in luxury would be a dream come true!
