GK Beach Hotel, CreteThis prize draw is now closed.

This month our lucky prize winner and their partner will win a 7 night stay (flights and car hire included) at the beachside GK Beach hotel in Kalives, Crete, courtesy of our partners at Simpson Travel.

Few hotels match the glorious location of GK Beach, where every suite has a sea view and all that stands between you and the soft white sand is a beautiful tropical garden. It’s a destination made for gently unwinding, helped along by massage treatments, drinks by the pool and delicious organic meals in the restaurant, served with the best in Cretan hospitality. The helpful Simpson Travel staff are on hand to offer advice and information about getting the best from your holiday, whether you want to jump in the car and visit the sights, or stroll into the village and enjoy a coffee or meal.

GK Beach Hotel, CreteThe beaches of West Crete never disappoint, from wild and rugged to pretty and peaceful – and the magnificent scenery continues further inland too, from the stately White Mountains to some of the Mediterranean’s most impressive gorges. Historic Chania, one of the most beautiful towns on the island, is also less than half an hour’s drive away.

Our winner and their plus one will visit in October 2017, when the weather is still sunny, the sea warm and the island less crowded. Flights and car hire are included in this fabulous prize.

Read about Jennie Carr’s visit to the GK Beach Hotel. She thought it was absolutely ideal for a late summer break.

My wife and I visited Crete for the first time this year on a guided 'Spring Flower' holiday and were bowled over by the beauty of the island's landscape and flowers; its history and its friendly people. I'd love to go back to spend more time discovering Cretan lyra music and Minoan artefacts.

All of Greece is beautiful and Crete is no exception, the people are welcoming, the food is good and it is a very safe place to walk about. I have been to Crete several times but my Husband hasn,t and it would be wonderful to share some of my memories with him.

We visited Crete over 25 years ago with two teenage daughters on half term! My biggest regret of that holiday was not visiting Spinalonga - particularly after reading Victoria Hislop's marvellous book. We had no idea that Crete was so big either. We missed doing other things like some of the wonderful walks which our teenagers would not have appreciated then!

Strangely enough we have never visited Crete. Other Greek islands yes, but never Crete. It's on our bucket list.

I visited the island of Crete a number of years ago, and found so much to do and so many places to visit. I had the most wonderful holiday. The one thing that has stayed in my mind most, was a visit to Spinalonga, a very moving experience. I would go back to Crete, if only to visit that one place alone. I have had holidays in many places including Hawaii and I would put Crete the top of my list for a revisit' if only for Spinalonga. I advise anyone visiting Spinalonga, to first read the book "Who Pays The Ferryman", and then visit the village that features the ferryman' this is just a few miles along the coast road from Elounda, spend some time in the village, and then take(if it still runs) the small ferryboat to Spinalonga
