Silver Travel Awards Prizes

We have a superb trio of prizes this month; a week
for two in the Italian Dolomites from Inghams,
a three night UK hotel break from Shearings
or one week's car hire from Avis, almost
anywhere in the world!
To enter the prize draw, please vote for your favourite travel companies and destinations, those which provide excellent service and consideration for the mature traveller, in the 2019 Silver Travel Awards. And you could ask friends and family, aged 50 and over of course, to vote as well. This is your chance to nominate those who deserve to be praised and celebrated. Voting begins on 1 March and ends on 10 May at midnight. Find out more about the 2019 Silver Travel Awards; we’ll announce the winners, chosen by you, on 26 June at an evening event at BAFTA, Piccadilly, London.
Our Inghams
prize is a super week for two to be taken between June and September, flights
from the UK included, and most meals too, at the four-diamond Hotel Al Pigher,
La Villa, Italy, where the air is gloriously clear and the pace unhurried. This is a small, comfortable hotel, with the
emphasis on friendly, personal service. It's in the heart of the Dolomites, so perfect for
walking – either gently in the valley or for the fit and energetic, along
mountainous hiking trials. It’s perfect
terrain for mountain biking too, if that’s your preference. And for a more leisurely day, the local
villages are replete with charm and good restaurants, enchanting to wander
in. Also included are buffet
breakfasts, packed lunches, afternoon tea and cake, and evening meals with
complimentary wine for six nights – you’ll be very well fed indeed.
Shearings UK hotels are ideal for those who like an
independent break; the prize here is for a three-night stay for two sharing
at one of their Bay Hotels, which are located in some of England’s best-loved holiday resorts, with evening
entertainment laid on or at a Coast & Country hotel, where there’s a very
relaxed atmosphere, set in gorgeous scenery. Stay at Exmouth, Tenby or Strathmore
for example and enjoy half board, with breakfast and dinner included. Get away to a super hotel, under your own
steam.
A spin on the open road is a wonderful experience and Avis will provide a car for up to seven days as one of our great prizes. Subject to availability, you can pick up your car pretty much anywhere in the world, which really gives you a fabulous choice of roads to cruise on! Imagine touring the highlands of Scotland or the sun-kissed French riviera. Further afield you might explore Puglia or the Californian coast.

and we were sweltering. Another year and we found ourselves diverted getting there through the snowdrifts as only one route had been ploughed to access the property. The whole week our dog kept leaping into huge snowpiles and having to be helped to get out. Happy Easter family times whatever the weather threw at us were thoroughly enjoyed by all and remain as wonderful memories.
I am not sure that children today would look forward to such simple pleasures.
