Win an immersive 8-day tour of Morocco for two, with G Adventures

July 2018 Prize Draw

Date published: 30 Jun 18

Ait Ben Haddou, MoroccoThis prize draw is now closed.

This month’s prize is a real treat, especially for those of you who enjoy a thorough exploration of a destination – this time it’s Morocco, a magical North Africa country, steeped in history, with an intoxicating hint of mystery and the exotic.

Our partner, G Adventures, specialists in travel that does good in the world, will take the prize winner and their partner on an escorted tour, to Casablanca on the coast, moving on to Fes and the renowned medina, filled with spices, food and all manner of goods. This is an enthralling place to visit and gives a true sense of life in Morocco as it has been lived for many centuries. From Merzouga, you’ll head into the Sahara desert by camel, to spend a night out in a Berber camp. Truly an experience to be remembered forever! Next, on to Todgha Gorge, followed by Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Sample local Moroccon delicaciesYour last 2 days will be spent in Marrakesh, a city that is fascinating no matter how many times you visit! The medina here is a maze of tiny shops, selling just about everything - soft leather slippers, beautiful jackets, fine scarves and woven baskets along with more prosaic household goods. Traditional artisans produce work of great quality here. And then as dusk falls, enjoy a tour of Djemaa el-Fnaa Square to see the musicians and street performers, there is much to marvel at.

Flights from London are included in this prize as is a tour guide, and comfortable tourist accommodation. Some meals are included, although you’ll have the chance to sample local restaurants and try Moroccan delicacies.

Amazing prize. Have never been to Morocco but it’s been on my wish list for a few years now. So many places in the world to see, and so little time to fit them all in.

One of our dream destinations!!!! Having spent, 4 weeks in hospital having my knee taken out due to bad infection in leg, another six weeks at home in a brace recuperating, and returning back into hospital for possibly another 4 weeks for new knee, this would be the ideal pick me up in my recovery!!!

Although we have been to Marrakech on a short break many years ago we never got to Fez or Cassablanca. This would be a dream come true and the idea of an escorted tour means we wouldn't miss the many cultural experiences that we never got to discover last time.

Would love to visit Morocco, love the food. Having a guide would give you even more insight into the country, it’s people and traditions.

My best friend lived and worked in Rabat in and was desperate for me to visit her there. She told me so much about the wonderful country of Morocco and its culture and people. I desperately wanted to see her and spend some time with her there - but family commitments and a very poorly child (my eldest son has profound medical and complex special needs) meant that the opportunity never arose. Not only would now be a time when life would permit a little 'me time' but I'm at that time in life where exploration of the wider world (and the inner me) is to be encouraged. Having a family meant that whilst my friends were doing MA's, travelling extensively and living life - life was challenging me on my home ground in so many ways. Life has strengthened me in so very many ways and has got me thus far, but I'd love to do a little back-pedalling now and unearth all those experiences and notch up some of the travelling and discovery that I missed out on in my younger years. My fingers are firmly crossed.

This is my first competition on Siilver Thread. I love Fred Olsen cruises and know that this will be wonderful. I have not tried a Christmas one before and I am pleased I would l be back home for Christmas day. The venues look good with lots to do and see and I know the food and entertainment will be fantastic.
