Mount Lycabettus, AthensThis prize draw is now closed.

This month our partner, Evaneos, is offering a super trip, visiting Athens and two of the Cyclades islands, Paros and Naxos, with flights included. For two people, this tour will last a week and be created by Albert, Evaneos’ hand-picked local expert in Greece, ensuring the prize winner and their companion get real insights into the area.

Boasting UNESCO-listed historical sites, whitewashed houses, world-renowned gastronomy, and exquisite beaches, Greece is a favourite destination for all travellers looking for culture, adventure, and relaxation.

The Caryatid Porch of the Erechtheion, Acropolis, AthensAthens: The cradle of Western civilization

After landing in Athens, depending on your arrival time, you can begin to discover the highlights of some of Greece’s most magnificent ruins with your local guide, and witness the heritage that still courses through its streets. Learn about the fascinating history of the ‘Acropolis’ and ‘Pantheon’, and indulge in some shopping at the Monastiraki market while you sip on some tsipouro (pomace brandy or marc).

Paros: Island paradise in Paros

Naoussa, Paros

A short ferry ride from Athens will take you to the island of Paros, where you’ll have the chance to put your feet up at any one of these beautiful spots: Golden Beach, Kolymbithres or Santa Maria. After re-energising yourself, discover the charming traditional villages of Parka, Lefkes, and Naoussa with your guide, and ditch the afternoon crowds by taking a boat to the small island of Antiparos for a fix of crystal-clear water and Cycladic architecture.

Naxos: An underrated treasure

Apollo Temple, NaxosThe last stop of your trip before returning to Athens is the island of Naxos, one of Greece’s most wonderful hidden gems. This region offers sites and activities for everyone: food enthusiasts can indulge in some Mediterranean cuisine at Chora, the capital of Naxos, while explorers can go on an excursion to the traditional villages of Apiranthos and Halki with a local guide to gain an insight into Greek traditions. As for our adventure enthusiasts, Naxos has plenty of hiking trails to explore, as well as the opportunity to kitesurf in Mikri Vigla.

I visited mainland Greece as a student teacher and have fond memories of seeing Olympia and Athens and getting teaching aids to help me teach about Ancient Greece - fast forward a few years and I now have 3 children 2 at university and 1 doing her A levels - none have visited Greece nor has my hubby who has managed to put up with me for many years. Hubby and I have never had a holiday where it was just us - even out honeymoon 2 of the kids were born and came with us to France - would love to finally get away just the 2 of us

We know Athens well but have never managed to get there together - it has always been work for me and supporting the daughter in research for her degree for my wife. By adding two lovely islands to the tour it will also allow us to relax together, doing something we truly love, without the distraction of children or grandchildren. Just the two of us starting by showing each other the places we liked, then discovering somewhere new.

My husband and I had a holiday going round as many Greek Islands as we could, getting on and off ferries as the opportunity arose - in the days before children, more than forty years ago. We didn't reach Paros or Naxos and we've always wanted to go back and continue our exploration - this trip would be idyllic

Our first holiday abroad as a young family in the 1980's was a special treat in memory of my father in law who'd died and left us some money. We decided on Rhodes and stayed in a fab new hotel on a hill above the harbour. I especially remember getting the local bus into Rhodes town and back every day. If we were lucky we got the same conductor: An elderly little Greek man who spoke no English but entranced our children with his bird whistles and smiley face. We got lots of friendly local buses around the island, sitting next to women with live chickens stuffed into carrier bags and smelly parcels of fish. It was such an adventure and gave us an enduring love of the Greek islands.

Toured five of the Greek islands when my husband was alive, it was the best holiday we ever had. It would be a wonderful reminder of a beautiful person.

Went to Alonissos a month ago, what a fabulous, colourful little island. It was so peaceful, as though it had steeped off the world. Needed good legs though, quite hilly.
