Lake District with Chapters Experience HolidaysThis prize draw is now closed.

This month we have an absolute treat for a single traveller – a 7 night stay in the Lake District with Chapters Experience Holidays.

Staying at the most comfortable Hassness Country House, in the western Lake District, situated above Buttermere, you’ll enjoy a truly wonderful week from 26 August 2017, immersing yourself in all the area has to offer. It’s easy to see why it is often called ‘the most beautiful corner of England’ and why it captured and inspired the imaginations of poet William Wordsworth and children’s author, Beatrix Potter. Fellwalker, Alfred Wainwright wrote with joy about walks in the Lakeland Fells, sharing his love and understanding of the region.

Hassness Country HouseOur prize winner this month will join a the Lakeland Explorer holiday and immerse themselves in the natural beauty that abounds here – lakes that take your breath away, scenery that can only be described as awesome and charming small towns that reflect a traditional way of life. There will be walks on most days, a leisurely 5 miles maximum, taking you to Buttermere, Derwentwater and Windermere. For fresh air and relaxed exercise, there can be no better place: unspoilt countryside, surrounded by the majestic fells, with views of the sparkling lakes, light dancing across the water.

Hassness Country HouseThere will be visits too to Borrowdale and Eskdale, Munster Castle and the chance to enjoy afternoon tea at Lindeth Howe, once home of Beatrix Potter, now a hotel. You’ll go to the church where Wordsworth is buried at Grasmere and take a boat trip across Windermere.

Hassness Country House provides a true retreat at the end of each day, with fabulous food, full board is included apart from one evening meal. The lounge offers panoramic views across the lake where you can totally relax and enjoy the company of your fellow holidaymakers and leader. You might even spot a red squirrel and you’ll certainly enjoy the birdlife!

This is a real chance for a single traveller to experience the camaraderie of a group, meet like-minded companions and get away from it all!

Why a wonderful prize, I would love to win this. I have always wanted to visit Beatrice Potter's home, I've read so much about her. This would be the ideal opportunity, plus all the other exciting things the prize also includes.

When I first visited the Lake District I hadn't been married very long and we had good weather for our visit staying with friends at Cockermouth. We visited most of the lakes in the week we were there and brought home with us a large piece of Buttermere slate. My husband took this lump of green slate to the local monumental mason and had our house name inscribed on it and the slate is on the wall of our property for all to see.

I used to live near the Lake District and have fond memories of using Wainwright's guides to explore the hills and fells. In those days, we stayed in Youth Hostels. Hassness Country House looks quite luxurious by comparison. It's situation, looking over Buttermere, reminds me of one walk in particular. It was a very hot day and I decided to swim across Buttermere and back, to cool off. On returning to my friends, they excitedly pointed out 3 dead fish found at the lakeside. Perch? Whatever.... they had teeth, quite nasty looking ones! I can't rememember what bothered me more....the fact that I'd been swimming in the same stretch of water as these creatures.....or that that they were dead.....cause of death unknown! Whoever is lucky enough to win this prize....Enjoy. ;-)

U love the beauty and tranquility of the Lake District but have not been for some time. I love exploring the rugged tracks and sitting by the lakes and enjoying seeing the wildlife and visiting the beautiful towns. We had many happy holidays there when my girls were small

A lovely competition and a fantastic prize/giveaway. I would be very happy if I win this holiday. I have not been to Lake District for a long time....about 35 years. I like the greenery, the lake and every thing about it. I have seen and watch lot of programmes on Lake District and people go for walks/ramblers and wish I can be there and do that sometimes. Thanks for the chance.. x
