Win a wonderful week in the Lake District with Chapters Experience Holidays

April 2017 Prize Draw

Lake District with Chapters Experience HolidaysThis month we have an absolute treat for a single traveller – a 7 night stay in the Lake District with Chapters Experience Holidays.

Staying at the most comfortable Hassness Country House, in the western Lake District, situated above Buttermere, you’ll enjoy a truly wonderful week from 26 August 2017, immersing yourself in all the area has to offer. It’s easy to see why it is often called ‘the most beautiful corner of England’ and why it captured and inspired the imaginations of poet William Wordsworth and children’s author, Beatrix Potter. Fellwalker, Alfred Wainwright wrote with joy about walks in the Lakeland Fells, sharing his love and understanding of the region.

Hassness Country HouseOur prize winner this month will join a the Lakeland Explorer holiday and immerse themselves in the natural beauty that abounds here – lakes that take your breath away, scenery that can only be described as awesome and charming small towns that reflect a traditional way of life. There will be walks on most days, a leisurely 5 miles maximum, taking you to Buttermere, Derwentwater and Windermere. For fresh air and relaxed exercise, there can be no better place: unspoilt countryside, surrounded by the majestic fells, with views of the sparkling lakes, light dancing across the water.

Hassness Country HouseThere will be visits too to Borrowdale and Eskdale, Munster Castle and the chance to enjoy afternoon tea at Lindeth Howe, once home of Beatrix Potter, now a hotel. You’ll go to the church where Wordsworth is buried at Grasmere and take a boat trip across Windermere.

Hassness Country House provides a true retreat at the end of each day, with fabulous food, full board is included apart from one evening meal. The lounge offers panoramic views across the lake where you can totally relax and enjoy the company of your fellow holidaymakers and leader. You might even spot a red squirrel and you’ll certainly enjoy the birdlife!

This is a real chance for a single traveller to experience the camaraderie of a group, meet like-minded companions and get away from it all!

A lovely competition and a fantastic prize/giveaway. I would be very happy if I win this holiday. I have not been to Lake District for a long time....about 35 years. I like the greenery, the lake and every thing about it. I have seen and watch lot of programmes on Lake District and people go for walks/ramblers and wish I can be there and do that sometimes. Thanks for the chance.. x

Since being diagnosed with diabetes a year ago my husband borrows a neighbour's dog and walks about
2 miles nearly every day. Having clocked up over 600 miles around our village it would be a very welcome
change to take his walks in the stunning beauty of the Lake District.

My husband stayed at Hassness Country House a couple of years ago and said it was wonderful there. His holiday photos were full of the wildlife and dogs he had met in the garden.

Growing up, I thought the Lake District meant trailing around twee shops selling sheepskin rugs and a myriad of trinkets, followed by lemonade and a bun in a tea shop. It can still be that if you want it to be. Or it can indeed be a literary exploration, following in Beatrix Potter's footsteps at Hill Top, or wandering in search of Wordsworth's daffodils. For many of us, however, it's about admiring Wainwright's beautiful drawings of the fells and enjoying the breathtaking views when we reach the top. Or maybe it's about a gentle meander around tranquil Buttermere with friends and family who aren't quite up to a climb.
Townie friends complain that it rains a lot: this can be true, but the Lake District would be different if it didn't ...As the saying goes, "There's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing." Use waterproofs and boots if you're heading for the hills, take map and compass or stay on low, signed paths if you don't know how to navigate in hills. And have fun!

I have not been able to get to the Lake District since 1978. I would love to go. Lots of friends have been and they keep telling me how wonderful it is. I really want to find out for myself.

My niece has a park home in the Lake District and my sister tells me that the area is stunning. It's such a long way from the south though.

I love walking and I love the Lake District (although I have only been there once!) Usually my son accompanies me on my walking holidays and I feel this may be more because he worries about me getting lost than his desire to walk with his ageing mum! How delighted he would be if I told him I had won a walking holiday and that he DIDN'T have to accompany me!!
