My nominations for Silver Travel awards
Best Cruise line: - P+O
My nomination is P+O, because of the quality of dress displayed by the staff; we particularly like the female officers wearing Tricorn hats. The quality of food and the quality of the Cabins is excellent. The standard of care for people with eating disabilities is excellent. After the first night if a person has a dietary requirement they are offered a special menu to suit their needs. They also have a dedicated waiter! The ships are modern and take into account people with disabilities providing superb toilet facilities. They also have dedicated vehicles (trip buses) available for wheelchair bound holiday makers, we have never seen that anywhere else. The Cabin beds are very comfortable and the standard of evening entertainment is very high.
Best hotel: - Daffodil hotel
I would put forward the Daffodil hotel, Lake Grasmere in the Lake District. The hotel has a large car park it also has good parking for the disabled traveller. It is very close to the small town of Grasmere and it has superb views over the lake. They also have a bus stop right outside the hotel so after viewing Dove Cottage (Wordsworths' house) and visiting and exploring Grasmere you can hop on the local service bus to explore the lakes! The rooms are well designed and spacious. the restaurant is also well placed within the hotel. It has a lovely outside patio area to sit out and enjoy the late evening sunshine.
Best airline: - Emirates.
As they give excellent on board entertainment vital when travelling long distances very comfortable planes with ample leg room, the meals are well prepared too.
Best destination: - Dubai
Modern destination with really good disabled facilities for transport and shopping. The sunny weather is also a great bonus. The people of Dubai all seem to speak English and the foreign workers certainly do. Getting through customs is hassle free too. The staff dedicated to assisting the disabled are very plentiful and helpful. There are good shopping and eating facilities too in the airport as well as in the city of Dubai.
