Plain sailing

Sailing in the Greek islands

Learn to sail a yacht whilst island hopping in Greece. Flotilla sailing is fun as you have the chance to sail your own yacht yet have the company of fellow sailors on the 10-12 other yachts each evening when you meet in port. For beginners, the lead crews give you a comprehensive briefing on the boat and its working parts on arrival. On your first morning you will be taken out and shown how to leave a harbour, work the anchor and pull the sails in and out (as well as how to turn on the all-important engine). From then on the lead crew will see you out of harbour each day, and be there to take your lines when you arrive in the evenings. Should you still be feeling a little unsure after the boat brief, they offer an extra pair of hands, someone who can stay with you for as many days as you require for a small extra fee. However, sailing in calm waters with no tides is very easy and, of course, you can keep in touch with the other boats by radio.
