This looks like a great prize. It reminds me of Lechaschau in the Lech Valley where Bavaria and the Tyrol meet. I went there in 1998 for a tour of Mad King Ludwig's castles - Linderhof, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau - but we were based in Lechaschau, Austria. It was a great location for walking on Hannenkamm Mountain and for seeing other places nearby such as Oberammergau, Innsbruck, Seefeld, Fussen, Munich and a little jaunt into Vipiteno, Italy.

Austria is a wonderful place to visit both in winter and summer - but don't just stick to the areas everyone has heard of . Salzburg, Vienna and the Tyrol all have a lot to offer but have a look at the other provinces to. Burgenland for the wine tours for instance. Or for the best mixture of mountains and lakes visit the fabulous region of Carinthia, which borers both Slovenia and Italy.
