As you approach the Hotel set just of a delightful country
road your first impression is one of sheer elegance a true English manor house.
There is ample and well lit car parking. As you enter Mallory
Court you will not be disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by friendly and
informative staff, as usual we were a little early but this was not a
problem. A pot of tea was promptly
provided for us and while we indulged our cases/bags were taken to our room
named Sulgrave. Following this we were escorted to the room (no turn left,
round corner first on right!) and asked if it was okay. How could it not be
it was delightful. This opulent room was
large enough to have a table and chairs in the bay window overlooking the
garden, a dressing table with chair, sofa, coffee table and a super
large queen size bed which could sleep three people, lovely bed linen which was
extremely comfortable even with our bad backs.
The room was well equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine,
kettle, fridge (with a fresh little bottle of milk) sparkling and still
water together with a bottle of blackcurrant cordial which was delicious not
forgetting the most delightful homemade biscuits with a gluten free option also
available. There was also fresh and dried fruit in individual containers
another nice touch. There was a CD player together with music CDs, books, magazines, guides
everything you require for a relaxing stay. Then to the amazing luxurious
bathroom with his and hers sinks, large bath with telephone style shower head, a lovely large separate shower, not forgetting a table and yes a chair.
Excellent quality towels which were even changed at night if you had used them.
The toilet was in a separate little room with its own sink. Both were very well
equipped with quality toiletries. The free Wi-Fi was excellent no issues with
it.
The room
was very peaceful and tastefully decorated, which was all in excellent order.
The attention to detail was outstanding even a greetings card wishing you a
pleasant stay. It shows how wonderful the room was when the only thing you
could possibly find to complain about would be that the lead on the kettle was
too short and you had to place it on the floor to use!!! The 10 acre gardens
are beautifully manicured and well worth a look around.
Our stay also included a three course dinner in the formal
dining room, a bottle of house wine and mineral water (as neither of us are
big drinkers I opted for just a glass of wine which sadly I was charged for but
never mind!!). You are greeted near reception, taken through to the lounge
where you are served with canapes and offered champagne while you peruse the
menu. Once your table is ready you are then shown and seated with napkins placed
on your lap. This attention to detail continued throughout the meal, the
quality of which was outstanding. The bread rolls were all homemade as was the
rest of the food. We both had the beef steak selection which was so tasty, just melted in your mouth both delicious and well presented. Every dish was
fully described by the waiter so you knew exactly what you were eating and
what the ingredients were. Every course was a gastronomic delight. Coffee was
served at the end of the meal with the most delicious again homemade sweets,
the perfect ending. This dining experience does not come cheap but then neither
does the quality of the food or the service and really should not be missed.
Also it should be noted that it is jacket and tie for men in the formal
dining room. A more casual dining experience can be obtained at the onsite
Brasserie or meals/sandwiches or snacks can be purchased within the hotel with
several small eating areas available together with the lounge. We did partake
of a sandwich one evening which was presented to the same high standard and
quality of ingredients. I can also confirm that the chef really does collect
fresh from the garden as shown in my picture taken from our room!!!
On our return to the room the bed had been turned down with
a linen cloth placed on the floor either side of the bed (I have not seen such
detail since we were in Barbados!!). A newsletter with the following day’s
weather was also provided.
After a wonderful night’s sleep with no disruptions we headed off for breakfast. Once again you are greeted and shown to your table where you are provided with a menu to select your freshly cooked breakfast should you require one. There was an excellent selection of cereals, croissants, Danish pastries, fresh fruit (served in individual jars) and yoghurt. For me the piece de resistance was the homemade fruit bread (wish they sold it!!!!). It goes without saying that all the cooked breakfast ingredients were again top quality and cooked to perfection, although I have to say make sure you are hungry if you order an omelette, they are not only delicious but large!
There is plenty to see and do in the area with several
National Trust properties. We visited Charlecote Park which I can recommend.
English Heritage also has several properties of which
Kenilworth Castle is also well worth a visit.
For a wet day there is always The National Motor Museum at
Gaydon.
In short Mallory Court Hotel is exceptional, luxurious, outstanding, and wonderful. I think you get the message. I truly thought that this standard and quality of service could only be found abroad. Well, congratulations to all at Mallory Court as they have proved me wrong.
A perfect location for any celebration, but why wait!
