We did a short river/ canal cuise around Holland and Belgium last year but this was not a total success due, mainly to the weather but also the canals were crowded with commercial boats. The Rhine, however, would be very different, as several of our friends have told us.

We stayed in a hotel in Rudesheim (on the Rhine) some years ago and the short break included a day-trip on a river boat, which was very enjoyable! Doing the full week and seeing so much more would be great :-)

I have been on a ocean cruise and that was wonderful. The advantage of this cruise is you have an ever changing view.

I have never fancied a ocean cruise,a river cruise is something different. Years ago we had a small cruiser which we used on the River Avon,we had many pleasant hours just drifting along. would be lovely to do it again on the Rhine.
